Conceived in 2006 as collateral series of events running parallel to Business of Design Week, DETOUR consists of a series of events and programs incorporating the most original, bold and stimulating ideas from both Hong Kong and across the globe. We created a knowledge network of young talents, emerging designers/artists, local as well as international, to exchange ideas and experiences. This is conceived to engage the larger population and let the entire city come together to celebrate the creative ventures around the city. The Ambassadors believes that design, innovation and creativity are vital, high-value elements to any culture, economy or society that pursues sustainable competitiveness. DETOUR helps Hong Kong to become the hub for Greater China’s design capabilities.

The year 2012 has been declared “Hong Kong Design Year” by the government. We will launch the biggest ever DETOUR to synchronize this effort, helping Hong Kong to establish a reputation to become the hub for Greater China’s design capabilities. It will benefit local business, raise awareness of the importance of a design-driven culture as well as generate international interests.
